Who Can Apply?
All eligible nationalities planning to enter Sri Lanka by air or sea for tourism, business, or transit purposes can apply for an eVisa.
Special Requirements for Certain Nationalities:
Nationals of Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Syria, and North Korea must apply for a visa through the Sri Lankan embassy or the Department of Immigration & Emigration, Sri Lanka. Required documents include:
- Police Clearance report.
- Police clearance from the country of stay (if more than 6 months) and a copy of the Visa.
- Certificate from a Sri Lankan guarantor and a photocopy of the guarantor’s NIC.
- Affidavit from a Sri Lankan JP (Justice of Peace) or a Lawyer.
- Accommodation information (place of stay).
Nationals of Taiwan should select “People’s Republic of China (Special Administrative Region of China)” as their nationality when applying for the eVisa.
Nationals of Kosovo are eligible for Visa on Arrival only.
Visa Exemptions:
- Citizens of The Republic of Singapore, The Republic of Maldives, The Republic of Seychelles, and The Czech Republic are exempt from obtaining a tourist standard 6-month eVisa.
- All nationals are eligible for an eVisa waiver if transiting through any Sri Lankan airport, valid for a 2-day transit period only.

How to Apply for a Sri Lanka eVisa?
Visit the Official Website:
- Go to the Sri Lanka eVisa website.
Create an Account:
- Register or log in if you already have an account.
Fill Out the Application Form:
- Complete the online application form with accurate details.
Upload Required Documents:
- Include a scanned copy of your passport, a recent photograph, and any additional documents specific to your eVisa category.
Pay the eVisa Fee:
- Securely pay the eVisa fee online using the available payment options.
Acknowledge Receipt:
- After submitting your application and payment, you will receive an acknowledgment receipt and a unique application reference number.
Track Application Status:
- Use your reference number to monitor your eVisa application’s progress via the ‘Track Status’ feature on the website.
Download and Print eVisa:
- Once approved, download and print your eVisa to present to the Immigration officer at the port of entry in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka eVisa Fees
- The eVisa fee is the final step of your application process, to be paid after submitting your details and mandatory documents.
- Select your category type to view the applicable fees.
Application Tracking for Sri Lanka eVisa
- Upon submission, you will receive an acknowledgment receipt with a unique Web Reference Number.
- Use this number to track your eVisa application status via the ‘Track Status’ feature on the website.
- Regular updates on your eVisa status will be sent to your registered email address, including notifications when your application is approved and available for download.
Documents to be Carried at the Airport
- Printed copy of your eVisa approval letter issued by the Sri Lanka Department of Immigration and Emigration.
- Passport with at least six months validity from the date of entry into Sri Lanka.
- Return ticket or proof of onward travel from Sri Lanka.
- Yellow fever vaccination certificate for applicants from specific countries (e.g., Angola, Argentina, Benin, Brazil, etc.) in compliance with international health regulations.
